A+ Program
The A+ Schools Program provides students who meet all of the criteria, funding for 2 years at a public community college, vocational or technical school in the state of Missouri. The Missouri State Legislature approves the funding of this program. Schools must be A+ certified by the state in order to offer this to their students. Green Ridge R-VIII School district is A+ certified.
Student Eligibility
The following criteria must be met in order to receive the A+ award.
Be a US citizen or permanent resident
Enter into a written agreement with your high school prior to graduation
Attend a designated A+ school for three consecutive years prior to high school graduation
Graduate from high school with a grade point average of 2.50 or higher on a 4.00 scale
Have an attendance rate of at least 95% for the four years immediately preceding graduation
Perform and document at least fifty (50) hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring under the supervision of a Green Ridge R-VIII educator.
Maintain a record of Good Citizenship and avoid the unlawful use of drugs and/or alcohol
Must have achieved a score of proficient or advanced on the Algebra I end of course exam (EOC). OR you must meet the ACT and GPA requirements set by the state. ACT score of 17 or higher and GPA of 2.5 or higher, ACT score of 16 and GPA of 2.8 or higher, ACT score of 15 and GPA 3.0 or higher.
You MUST complete the FAFSA application to secure federal post-secondary student financial assistance (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/) each year.
The A+ award expires when the earliest of the following occurs:
48 months after graduation date on high school transcript.
Receipt of associates degree
Completion for 105% of the hours required for the program in which you are currently enrolled
The award is renewable annually. You must complete the FAFSA each year. You also must maintain a 2.5 GPA and otherwise maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by your school.
