From Mrs. Anderson: "Careers Class was challenged to write as many words that related to careers class in 2 minutes. Then, in their groups they were each assigned a word and had to pick a song that made them think of that song.  After we created our playlist, we listened to the song and groups told us how the song relates to class and the word they chose."

The Green Ridge Boys Basketball team beat Crest Ridge last night in an outstanding contest that saw several lead changes. The Cougars jumped out to an early 9-2 lead, but the Tigers fought back to take the lead at the half 24-20. The Cougars led 38-37 at the end of the third quarter, but the Tigers made 7 of 9 free throws down the stretch and ended up on top 59-54. Weston Crawford led the way with 21, followed by Lucas Mason with 18, and Mark Pavlioglo with 17. The Tigers played a complete team game, and it was a nice start to the season. The Tigers play on Monday and Tuesday at home, against Kingsville and Hermitage. JV boys will start the night with 2 quarters at 5:30 on both evenings. Go TigerNation!

From Ms. Dailey: "We tested how and why trees don’t fall down when it’s too windy by making umbrellas held up by pipe cleaners and straws. Then, students cut holes and slits into the umbrellas to mimic leaves and branches and how wind flows through them."

From Mrs. White: "American Literature students have been studying excerpts from Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden” and “Civil Disobedience.” Today they participated in an interactive computer activity where they were able to perform the following activities: fishing, cutting wood, building a cabin, and hunting for food, along with some other tasks. This gave them a better picture of the isolated life Thoreau lived while isolated on Walden pond."

From Mrs. Thompson: "After finishing our simple machines and kinetic and potential energy unit, we built balloon powered cars. This was a tough task for the students, and it really tested their patience, independence, and team building skills. AND they did fabulous! Every single one of their cars worked! They may not have gone as far as they wanted them to, but they worked! They got to show their creativity with the supplies they chose to use, and we had several groups helping other groups!

Students in Ms. Tylar's 5th and 6th period social studies classes had an engaging lesson today! As she presented the lesson: Voting in Congress--It's more than just "Yea" or "Nay," students had to take on the role of a Senator or Representative and choose a Political Party. Then, based on their position, the students made decisions about how they would represent their constituents as bills were introduced for a vote!
