Hello TigerNation! On April 9th and 10th, Doctor Ethan Stout with Bothwell Orthopedics will be at our school to perform free physical exams for Green Ridge students who participate in junior high/high school sports and/or band. If your child is due for a physical exam and you wish for them to receive one from Dr. Stout, please have your child get the appropriate forms from the school nurse so they can be signed and filled out by the parent with the information needed. Sports physicals are good for two years. If you are unsure if your child received a physical last year, please contact the school or have your child stop by the nurses office. Please note, students are not allowed to participate in any practice or events until a physical exam is completed and returned to the school. If your child does not receive a physical exam from Dr. Stout on one of these days, then one will need to be obtained from a licensed provider of your choice. We ask that the forms are completed and returned to the school nurse by 4/7/2025. Please contact the school with any questions or concerns.

We are pleased to announce our Students of the Month for Jan/Feb! Due to many inclement weather days we combined the two months into one. Help us in recognizing high school students Lanae Mason, JH student Faith Hayburn, Intermediate student Philip Oliferchuk, and primary student Alyssa Scott! All of these students have been recognized for their hard work, kindness, and overall positive attitude! Great job showing your stripes! High School- Lanae Mason: Lanae has always been a rather quiet and reserved student. She has also been a great student from day one! I never would have imagined that she would step out of her comfort zone, step on stage, and be such a marvelous performer. Lanae works hard in her studies and all her activities, is a supportive teammate and friend, and is a great example of what it means to be a Tiger and part of the TigerNation. Jr High-Faith Hayburn: Faith shows her tiger stripes each and every day. She comes in and immediately gets out what she needs to begin class and stays on task the whole hour. She is respectful to her teachers and classmates, responsible with herself and her work, and always follows the school rules. She is an amazing student! Philip Oliferchuk: I have been super impressed with Philip not only in class, but on the playground as well. In class he works hard on his classwork. He has even asked for extra practice when he doesn't understand something, or he will choose to miss out on specials to get help to understand concepts better. On the playground, Philip will always try to include everyone and make sure they get the ball or the time to make a play. He always sticks up for the kids, always helps them understand the rules if it is a game they haven't played. I have seen him tell the other kids to give them another try because they didn't understand what to do. He truly is a great friend to a lot of kids. We appreciate it and so do the kids. Alyssa Scott: This student demonstrates selflessness, kindness, helpfulness, and friendship and is a joy to be around. I notice her using her free time in class to help others when they are struggling, making sure others feel included in and outside the classroom, and encouraging collaboration during group work. During math, she always starts conversations to stir group work; during recess, she makes a point to include whoever she can. Alyssa is wonderfully social and befriends everyone. I am amazed by her actions, character, and smartness every day. I believe Alyssa is very deserving of a Student of the Month award!

Good Morning Tiger Nation, The Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission is working with the City of Green Ridge to Develop an Active Transportation Plan to encourage and to provide the infrastructure for safe walking and bicycling for all residents. Much of the preliminary work has been completed, and we are now at the stage of convening a working group to develop the plan. A portion of the plan will focus on safe routes to school for our students. Please take a moment to fill out this survey. Tiger Nation & Green Ridge Community, We hope this message finds you well. As a school community, the safety and well-being of our students are always our top priority. We want to bring to your attention some recent concerns in our area and ask for your partnership in reinforcing critical safety practices with your children. In the past week, there have been three attempted abductions reported in surrounding communities. While we work diligently to educate our students on the importance of awareness and vigilance, we also recognize that safety is a collective effort. Even in our small, close-knit town, it is crucial that we remain proactive in protecting our most precious resource—our children. We encourage you to have conversations with your child about: Being aware of their surroundings at all times. Avoiding interactions with strangers and never accepting rides or gifts from someone they do not know. Walking in groups whenever possible, especially to and from school. Identifying safe places to go if they ever feel uncomfortable or threatened. Trusting their instincts and seeking help from a trusted adult if something does not feel right. Here at school, we consistently discuss these safety measures with our students, particularly our younger ones. However, these conversations are most effective when reinforced at home. Your support in reminding your children of these essential safety practices is invaluable. If you or your child notice any suspicious behavior, please report it immediately to law enforcement and the school. It takes all of us working together to keep our children safe. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to our students’ well-being. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Sincerely, Brett Hieronymus Superintendent
