From Mrs. Zimmerschied: "The Thirty Years War was instigated by representatives of King Ferdinand getting a less than warm welcome and tossed out a window. We recreated it with Sophia as our representative of the king."

From Mrs. Anderson: "In careers class we are studying how globalization changed the workforce.  Students found objects around the classroom and identified where they were made."

Weston and Rylee did exactly as I asked yesterday...they showed up and gave their State race everything they had. Unfortunately, both felt the physical toll of two back-to-back nights of District soccer preceding Friday's early race...the way the cookie crumbles for dual-sport athletes in post-season play sometimes. Regardless, they came, they saw and they finished hard. Although no podium finishes their hard work and determination made them two of Missouri's top Class 1 cross country runners and we're so very proud to call them a Green Ridge Tiger.

Mrs. Thompson introduced Literature Discussion Groups/Book Clubs with her students this week. Students spent time with her at her guided reading table. Then, they worked with their group to complete written responses to the text. They practiced accountable talk while sharing with their peers! Wow!!!

Mr. Taylor's 6th graders have been studying ancient Egypt. Recently, students made their own hieroglyphics to display in the hallway. Today, Mr. Taylor began his lesson with a discussion about goods that were traded in ancient times including incense and frankincense. He shared some lotion to give students an idea of what type of fragrance ancient Egyptians used. They loved it!

After Mrs. Harrison’s math lesson about ratios, she leveled up the engagement with Blooket, an Ed Tech platform, where she chose a couple of games to review skills. Students created an anonymous game name & competed against their classmates with leaderboards. High school helpers also competed against the class along with Mrs. Harrison herself! It was fantastic! Loved hearing Mrs. Harrison challenging students: “Dog2, I’m coming for ya!” :))) The students were ALL IN!!!

Ms. Schmidli had an engaging lesson on the importance of writing specific, clear directions when creating a "how to" writing. She had students write directions to make a stick person. Then, she tried to follow their directions! The results were humorous, but she made her point! One student had FABULOUS directions! He earned a prize!

1st grade had a visit from two members of the American Legion. These special guests shared their love of our country, provided historical information, taught our students proper flag etiquette, and even left flags for each student to take home! Thank you for spending time with our students, and thank you for your service!❤️🇺🇸
